Codes of Conduct
The Essendon Netball Club endorses and fully adopts the Victorian Code of Conduct for Community Sport as supported by Netball Victoria. These can be viewed on the Netball Victoria website.
Team Selection: Trials, Policies and Procedures
Players will be marked off the list and issued with a number so that the Team Selection Panel can easily identify each player. Players will be warmed up then rotated onto the court.
During game time the players will be assessed by a panel of three or four selectors. Those players who are not being assessed will be asked to wait patiently. Parents who stay, will be asked to move into the car park area and leave the players, coaches and grading committee to coordinate the team selection process.
Player Commitment
Player selection for teams will be based on certain criteria. This criteria will include:
netball skills and fitness
commitment to training (attendance and cooperation of players as demonstrated during the previous season)
game attendance and commitment to the pre-match warm ups and drills
attendance at the pre-season fitness sessions
paying fees on time and adhering to Club policy which includes training and playing with only one club within our association
behaviour in accordance with the Victorian Code of Conduct as outlined above.
Existing Club Members
The Club currently fields 16 teams and we have had many enquiries for 2015 at all age levels. We attempt to make the team selection process as streamlined as possible and that's why we ask that the Team Selection Form and a registration commitment fee be sent to us by the due dates nominated on the form.
Whilst every attempt will be made to place all players into a team, we cannot guarantee all players a position, especially those who were late in responding or who arrived on the day without responding. The Committee has made a decision to treat these players as "new" players.
New Members
The Club receives numerous enquiries every year from players across all age groups. Those who have registered for Team Selection will be given an opportunity to participate in the Team Selection process. The selection of new players will be dependant upon the availability of a position in the particular year level. If there is not a position available to your child, the Club will refund the Team Selection commitment fee.
Players who were members of Essendon Netball Club and have left the club to play at another club or did not play the previous season will also be regarded as new players.
Coach's Input to Team Selection
Our coaches will be consulted when the team selection panel is undecided about a particular player. Parents should be aware that the coaching administration staff at the Club have close contact with all coaches and we do ask coaches for their input as to their teams and players. We are familiar with most of the players at the Club either through personal contact or via the coaches.
After Team Selection Trials
Soon after the Team Selection Trials are completed, the panel of selectors will convene and discuss each player and decide who will play in what team. Again, this process is up to the selectors and we ask that YOU DO NOT APPROACH THE SELECTORS ABOUT WHAT TEAM AND WHAT NIGHT YOU WISH TO PLAY.
NOTE THAT THE TEAM SELECTION IS FINAL.
Coaches will be allocated to teams after selection.
